I live in Singapore and coming from the tropics, there are only two seasons in a year – summer and rain. Unlike my temperate country counterparts, it is litle wonder I’ve never seen real snow in my life.

But guess what? It’s snowing on my blog! Hehe…Yes, I decided to let it snow since it’s the Christmas and holiday seasons.

It sure wasn’t an easy climb getting to the top as my nearest competitor was a well known Lionel Lim from a multinational company. And this local Lionel Lim (that’s ME…with emphasis) is just a Singaporean guy blogging about his personal life and the things that happens around him.

But you don’t give up even if the going gets tough, do you? I know I will never. If the competition is stiffer, I’ll relish it more. That’s why my dad gave me this name which means king of the jungle.

It just boogles me there are actually 233, 000 results for Lionel Lim online. Wow!

Roaring with absolute delight!!

Having completed my lifestyle & fitness website earlier, it’s now time to give longtaizi a makeover.

As I like the look and feel of the previous edition (01 Apr 08), I decided to retain the concept of having lots of white space. What I did was to do a cosmetic surgery without removing too much of the familiarity which readers have grown used to. As with all respectable cosmetic surgeries, I beautified the blog by adding more colours & photos so as to up its image quotient and hip factor. So yes, you now have more vibrant banners, call-outs, synchronised shapes for similar categories and the huge pictorial collage which acts as the masthead.

Yeah…personally, i like the new look. I hope you readers do too

When I discovered to the mother of all horrors that my webmaster had given my blog a surgical operation without my consent, the only thing I knew was to pick up the phone there and then.

Like the dragon spouting large doses of fire, I launched an offensive not unlike that in the Gaza Strip. Feeling naturally pissed and upset, I gave him a good dressing down.

If you want to fix something, make it better. If you can’t, then don’t even attempt it in the first place. You don’t end up with a half-fucked result.

When trust takes time to be earned over the years, you should not abuse it by misplacing it.

If I had approved the go-ahead, I would bear full responsibility for the consequences. But the truth is, I never gave the green light.

If it was meant to be an early Chinese New Year present out of sheer goodwill, I think it was done in awful taste as the end result speaks for itself.

Don’t do things which you know will infuriate others, unless you want to get a good scolding in the morning which ruins your mood for the rest of the day.

Having destroyed the outlook of my blog, you might as well send in the bulldozer next to tear down my house without my consent.

Perhaps the best lesson to be learnt from this unfortunate episode is that communication is vital. Both parties have to be speaking the same language, in the same context and sharing the same reality. Only then can they forge ahead in the same direction.

If you act unilaterally without consent or agreement, I’m not so sure that’s communication. That, in my opinion, is acting smart and then getting slapped in your face thereafter.

Oh well, guess I’ll be kept busy doing some skin grafting so that longtaizi.org regains its cheery outlook again in time to usher in the lunar new year. And I thought I could have a good rest after the spring cleaning was completed.

It’s pretty Lionel-centric I would think. But apparently not!

I added some new stuff here today – like a link to my business website LionelLim.com and a hit counter. And out of curiosity, decided to check the cpanel statistics. Lo behold…I can’t believe this. Longtaizi actually got a total of 117, 593 and still counting hits since 01 Apr 08. Wow!

It’s cause for some celebration as I really don’t know where all the traffic is coming from. But traffic is traffic. If only the traffic translated into sales…hmm…

Yes, people bookmark my site as my writings strike a chord with them. The hardworking but rare few will bother to leave me comments. Then there’s the spam stuff which is left too.

Regardless, I enjoy writing and will continue to write in blogosphere

The next problem was getting a blog name I like. After all, some of the earlier names I had considered like ‘beautiful stranger’, ‘myvoice’, ‘urbanmale’ etc were already taken by other people.

What about ‘white knight’? ‘prince charming’? Err, a bit paiseh.

Then I tried ‘longtaizi‘ (龙太子). Hey, presto! It’s available!

There is a certain mystic about ‘longtaizi‘ that I like. It’s definitely from one of those ancient Chinese legends which I love. And ‘long’ (龙) which means dragon is my Chinese zodiac sign. And ‘taizi‘ (太子) which means “prince”, represents my position in the family. Dad & Mum are the king and queen…hehehehe…

Though I’ve included some past stuff of my own (poems, articles, writings etc), these were all brought over from my old website. This officially marks the dawn of longtaizi.
