The Pretty Little Pink Flower: Impermanence
After the ruthless storm battered the soul of the little pretty pink flower relentlessly for the whole day, this is what is left of it. The flower is no more. It has withered. The yellow anthers did not even have a chance of being further pollinated. Such is its tale of impermanence.

The impermanence of the pretty pink flower
Nothing stays permanent in this world, much less the little wild one. Many a times, we take people and things for granted until one day when we are bereft of them do we realise how fortunate we once were.
A friend of mine told me his boss psychologically prepared him to face retrenchment after Chinese New Year. To think the same friend was only complaining about how sucky his job was barely four months ago.
Our fellow Singaporean Lo Hwei Yen was shot dead in Mumbai by terrorists a few days later while on a business trip. To think she was still enjoying Kylie Minogue’s concert live in Singapore with her hubby a few days prior to the trip.
It’s so easy to put off things or hold back our feelings as there’s always tomorrow. But what if tomorrow never comes? What if the flame of the candle is going to be extinguished soon? Will there still be time to devise a last minute bucket list? I don’t know.
The beauty of the little pink wild flower was evident, buy only for one day. If I had missed the scene, I would have missed it forever. Who knows when another seed of similar nature will germinate in the soil of my garden and blossom into another pink flower? I’m glad Mum didn’t miss it too.
2008 is fast coming to an end. It’s shocking how there’s only 20 more days to go before the new year arrives. I’m never going to experience 11 Dec 2008 again after tomorrow. If tomorrow never comes?
