Vertical Frog Race
Once there was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a vertical race. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd gathered around the tower to see the race and to ostensibly cheer on the contestants.
Honestly, no one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. After all, they were but frogs. How high can frogs jump right? Indeed, whispers and mutterings vibrated around the tower base.
“Way too difficult!!”
“They’ll never make it to the top!”
“The tower is too high!”
“The frogs are too small and weak!”
And true enough, after an initial spurt of energy, the frogs began collapsing…one by one.
The crowd continued to yell:
“See? We told you so…”
“No one’s gonna make it!”
As time went by, more and more tiny frogs fell prey to exhaustion and gave up.
The situation looked bleak. It looked no one was going to succeed.
But ONE tiny frog continued climbing higher and higher and higher…
This one simply wouldn’t give up!
Finally, to the disbelief and amazement of the crowd, that one frog reached the top!
The other frogs were stunned. More than just stunned? They were embarrassed and flummoxed.
None of them actually believed any one of them could make it to the top, less this tiny little scrawny fellow.
So how did that one little frog complete the feat with his sprightly webbed feet?
Well, the winner was deaf!
In life, we sometimes have to play deaf in order to achieve our goals in life. There is simply too much distraction around us, and most of the distraction comes in the form of negative energy. Bet you heard these phrases before – “it’s too difficult”, “i’ve got no time”, “i’ve got no contacts”, “i don’t know how to sell”. And mind you, these negative thoughts come from our worst enemy – our ego mind. It’s that little voice inside our mind that conjures images of fear and failure.
When we hit the wall in front of us, we get bruised and immediately retreat. The pain is too much to bear. When we fail in our attempt to close a deal, we get crestfallen and take two steps backwards. We become victims of that little voice.
For us to achieve success in life and become who we want, like the little frog, we have to learn to manage this little voice inside us. Only when we become masters of the little voice can we set up to achieve greatness in life. We are all destined for greatness. The question we have to ask ourselves now is whether we are willing to let this quality surface.
