Cherry Blossoms

We came from all different parts of the world
in huge flocks to see the cherry blossoms.
It’s spring time now, they are all in full bloom.
Pretty in pink, oh what a sight – behold!
‘Tis true their beauty truely overwhelms.
Three days later, it was a shocking sight.
They have now all been strewn over the ground.
Suggestion and perishability,
the twin themes deep-rooted in human life.
The fall of the cherry blossoms suggest
the once full bloom or the new buds to come.
This subtle hint at life’s impermanence.
Like the cherry blossoms, we’ll die one day.
But unlike them, we really don’t know when.
